Upper Eyton Farmhouse B&B is an imposing 17th century grade 2 listed building. The top floor has been completely refurbished to create 4 high quality ensuite rooms with modern facilities whilst retaining the character of the building.
History
The hamlet of Eyton lay within the parish of Alberbury, on the Shropshire-Wales border and probably originated as a clearing in the extensive woodland in this area. It existed by the later Saxon period and is mentioned, as Etune, in the Domesday Survey of 1086; the name is derived from the Old English ‘ēg’ and ‘tūn’ – meaning a settlement or farm on a promontory.
To the West, the Welsh mountains and to the East is Shrewsbury, the Shropshire plains and in the distance The Wrekin.
